Frequently asked questions.

What format should I send my track in?

WAV files or AIFF please. Make sure to print 2 versions of your files if possible. One with all effects turned OFF, and one with all effects turned ON. Please label the versions as such. Also, please send a rough mix of the song that we will use as a reference.

Send WAV files with a bit depth of 24 bit, or higher (32 bit) ideally. 16 bit is also acceptable if that is all you have. The sample rate is not important.

Please make sure “normalize” and anything else like that is NOT checked when exporting your WAV files / stems. We need headroom to make sure that your tracks can be mixed and mastered properly.

How do we get started?

Email your files/tracks to the following email address:  evan.customcutstudios@gmail.com along with a detailed message of what work you need done and how to reach you. We will contact you ASAP to move forward..

How does the “$200 Sample Section” promo work?

You send us your WAV files to Mix and / or Master, and we send you back a Sample Section of your First song. Length of the sample section will vary depending on the length of your song. We try to deliver approx 1-2 minutes of the song. If you like the $200 sample section, after purchase of the service, we will finish and email the full song. Please allow approximately 1 week from the time of payment, to receive your sample section.

Is it ok for me to say, “I’d like it to sound like [insert song here]…?”

Absolutely. In addition to as much written information as possible you’re welcome to provide a rough mix as well as a commercially released reference song, as these will be useful guides for the engineer (any rough mix or reference song won’t be counted as additional files/tracks).

I’m thinking of adding a load of reverb and effects prior to the mix. Is that ok?

Ideally not. We ask that you please supply multi-track files dry, without reverb or effects. But, if you feel that a specific effect, processing or creative element (filter sweeps, delays etc.) is an integral part of the sound then please provide a clearly labeled ‘dry safety’ version of your track within your ‘Reference Audio Folder’ when you submit your project (any audio in this folder won’t be counted as an additional track/file).

After I email you, how long until I hear back from you?

We will get in touch with you to confirm we have received your song within 48 hours. If you don’t hear back from us it’s possible something went wrong with your email, please re-send or call.

Do you require a down payment to get started Mixing and Mastering?

$200 gets you a sample section of your first song. We require this payment prior to starting, both for Mixing and Mastering. After the first song, payment must be made in full for us to begin working on your song(s).

Do you require a down payment to book studio time?

Yes. We require payment in full to book time.

How can I pay?

We accept all major credit cards: payment through paypal, and cashapp. Please note that if your billing address is located in the State of Pennsylvania, you will be charged the Pennsylvania State sales tax of 6% on top of the price.

We believe in keeping our customers happy. We offer two sets of revisions on any song we Mix and Master. For additional revisions after the second set, you must purchase an additional revision.

By processing an order at https://www.CustomCutStudios.com , you automatically agree to the terms listed. If you have any questions, please contact us.

What should my submitted file look like?

We accept WAV or AIFF files at 44.1, 48, and 96kHz; 16/24 or 32 bit. Please supply us with mono or stereo files, clearly named and without audio clipping. Stereo stems will be counted as 2 tracks of audio, for example ‘Strings L & R’ will be counted as 2 tracks. You will need to provide multi-tracks that are consolidated or bounced from the start point of your song (bar 1 beat 1 or start time code). All files must be of the same duration, sample rate and bit depth. Sorry, but we cannot accept DAW sessions (i.e, Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools etc).

We ask that you also double check your audio files before uploading. Reload them into a new Session/Project, checking that they are the correct placement and length, also checking that any crossfades have been included when consolidating or Bouncing in Place.

Can I get any revisions to my Mastered track?

Yes, if you have paid for us to master your song, we offer 1 free revision. If something is wrong, please let us know and we will do our best to fix the Mastering issue. If you want additional revisions on your Mastered track, we offer them at $55 plus sales tax per revision for songs in which “Mastering” is the only service performed.

Can I get any revisions to my Mixed song?

Yes, if you have paid for Mixing and Mastering your song, we offer 2 sets of free revisions. After that, you can have additional revisions at $55 plus sales tax per revision.

Can I get any Stems printed? For example; an instrumental only version, a tv track version, a drum n’ bass version?

If you want Stem versions of your final mix, we offer 3 stems for $60 plus sales tax.

How much headroom do I need to leave?

Plenty of headroom please. Stay in the green! Avoid the yellow and red. Artifacts like clipping and distortion cannot be removed in the mix process, so allow plenty of headroom when printing your multi-tracks.

Can I get my track mastered within two days?

Yes. Just make sure to communicate your immediate need for your master and we will get your track back to you within 48 hours, for an additional “48 Hour Master” cost of + $55. We can master your track within 2 days. Simply communicate the "48 Hour Master" option in the message after you upload a track and it will be mastered within 2 days.
